Biography: Celestia Shumway of Layton, Utah is wife of Dan Shumway and a happy homeschooling mother of seven children, ages 1 to 17. When they have mastered self-government she will celebrate by reading classics all day every day for a LOOONG time and eating chocolates. She vacillates between inspiration, exhaustion, and enthusiasm daily. She is deeply touched by a statement in her core book that says that America has been dedicated to the covenant of freedom and ponders daily how to prepare her children to fulfill this covenant. She was humbled to learn recently that she is a direct descendant of John Lathrop, Roger Williams (founder of Rhode Island), a Mayflower Pilgrim, and two Revolutionary War soldiers, all seekers of freedom in America. Amy Bowler is a homeschooling mother of 6 from St. George, UT, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at BYU. She is passionate about education and mentoring and enjoys being a LEMI trainer. She is also the Principal Mentor of the Washington County Commonwealth where she teaches TJYC (Thomas Jefferson Youth Certification) with the love of her life, Kent. She also teaches the Freedom Project, a class on the Constitution, to neighbors in her community. Amy’s greatest joys come from mentoring her own children, reading classics, playing games with her family and debating politics at the dinner table.
